Tonight I had a hot date iwth my husband! The little arty movie theatre downtown is doing a holiday series, and so tonight he met me downtown after work, we went to eat at a little bar and grill place, and then? White Christmas on the big screen! It is a really weird thing seeing a movie that you have seen a million times on the small screen on a big screen surrounded by other people. People laughed at things I don't, and there were times I was chuckling by myself. But it was a fabulous time, and we had fun chatting with a random stranger about how much we all hated It's a Wonderful Life. No holiday movie makes me flip the channel faster, despite my love of Jimmy Stewart. So yes. An excellent date night, even though I'm getting a cold. I have a headache and a sore throat and I've had to switch to the lotion-y tissues, which I hate unless I'm to the point where anything else = pain. Ah well.

In other news, we watched the second season opener of the Book Group last night, and I'm just hoping some day Brian will overcome the sex scenes Claire and her guy have, because they may have possibly scarred him for life.

Oh, I am exhausted. My 4 year old nephew had his birthday party yesterday at one of those enormous indoor jungle gum places, and between the bouncy room, climbing around the jungle gym, and the ddr machine, I got more exercise in those 2 or 3 hours than I do most weeks. And the night before our neighbor decided he simply had to hang things on his wall at 3 am, so I was sleep deprived to boot. It makes me feel old, but I can't wait until we get a house.

Since I felt awful most of today, we lounged about a lot. Played some Civ4, shopped online for Christmas presents. And! We watched the first four episodes of The Book Group, as provided by iamsab. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I am a bit annoyed though. I made apple butter bread earlier in the week, and it was pretty good. Today, I made the thanksgiving bread, and depspite the pumpkin, orange and brown sugar in it, I swear it tastes just like normal white bread! How is that possible? I am befuddled.

I am currently crampy AND fighting a cold, a situation which is complete suck. I am feeling all domesticated - I cleaned the apartment, and I have a bread machine cookbook out of the library. I am paging through it longingly, but it is too close to bedtime for sickies. Tomorrow, though, there will be bread. Mmm, bread. I think first I will make a Thanksgiving Harvest Loaf - a couple weeks late, but pumpkin, orange and brown sugar never go out of season.

Torchwood was fun this week! Very entertaining, although my dislike of Gwen remains strong and true. Ianto...well, I'm thrilled he's not angsting anymore, eh?

My friendslist is currently full of posts about people being unable to pull off a sockpuppet scam. Being pretty uninvolved in fandom and not having met anyone in RL that is on my friendslist, I could totally get away with a fake illness! But, it wouldn't be a big enough deal to get lipgloss and unicorns out of it. Alas!

It is weird to think that nobody can verify what I'm saying. I could totally be making up my husband and super impressive BA in Communications. Nobody knows!

I'm not, though.

I have a football hangover. The West Virginia/Rutgers game last night was super intense, and ended in triple overtime. And it determined whether my Cards would go to a BCS bowl! So, the stress and excitement made me feel like crap today. But that is ok, because the Cards are in the BCS bowls!

I have spent the day listening to Christmas music and shopping for family. It's been very fun! I may be an atheist, but I still love Christmas. Heh.

I wish I didn't have a job where I was totally sure they would fire me if I posted in my lj while I was there. I always want to post while I'm stuck in front of my computer for 8 hours, but all my ideas are totally gone once I'm home!

Torchwood this week! spoilers, a bitCollapse )

Scrubs was back! I was very excited, though it wasn't at it's best. But, there are always shining moments of glory, even in the worst Scrubs episodes. Turk is my favorite.

Books! Thanks to a rec from setissma, I recently read the 3 books in Sharon Shinn's Twelve Houses series. So much love! Really excellent stuff, especially The Thirteenth House. I stayed up until like 2 am finishing, and considering I'm old and married and usually go to bed at like 10:30, that's high praise. Hooray for fun books! Once again, I must pimp Shelfari. I've been saying for ages that I wanted to keep track of my reading, and I finally have been! It's not fully comprehensive, but it does fully show my love of scifi/fantasy, chick lit, and YA literature.

I had managed beat my HS addiction to soaps, but my avid following of the wank of the past two days proved I'm still susceptible. Craziness.

We are finally all caught up on Dr Who! B has no patience, so once he realized that I could get Dr Who from the same place I was getting Torchwood, there was no stopping him. It's for the best, really, because we are really bad at remembering to watch TV on specific nights. But yes. spoilers belowCollapse )

In other news, I downloaded Nevermind the Buzzcocks with John Barrowman, and I just love him. He is cute as could be, and just so funny and giddy. How could you help but enjoy him! He is like the only thing keeping me watching Torchwood. Spoilers for last week, CountrycideCollapse )

I hope everyone else's Thanksgiving was as lovely as mine. I talked with my family and played with the niece and nephews and ate an outrageous amount. I am very thankful that I have a family I enjoy so much, and a husband who loves and enjoys them too! It was great and I ate 3 different kinds of pie! I blame my sister B who told me I had lost too much weight recently. I didn't want her to worry, you know. I also blame my mother, who made some darn good pies.

So, I haven't been posting because I've been hiding from the world, because I hate my job and I am very sad about that. But, our shiny new health insurance goes into effect on 12/1, and the library keeps getting more fun books on cd, so hopefully I will survive. Although sometimes my ears hurt from wearing my headphones so much.

BUT! Today is Thanksgiving! The greatest holiday of the year! All the family (that is a bonus for me, which I am thankful for!), all the food, none of the stressful present buying! So HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! to all that celebrate it, and a HAPPY THURSDAY to everyone else! Thursday has always been my favorite day, ever since it was soccer practice day when I was 8. Hooray Thursday.

Good LORD. I usually give in and read the Dr Who recaps on TWoP despite their suckiness, because I like to rehash the show in my mind, but I couldn't even stand to finish the first PARAGRAPH this week. Jacob is so annoying! Argh!

In other news, my new job sucks and I think all the typing in has somehow injured my right pinkie finger. Life is so hard.

Yeah, like 300 words for NaNo so far. The night is young, but I am PMSing so that's likely to be it.

I realized I was PMSing when, while walking down Main Street reading, I almost started crying out of frustration that the girl was being too proud and stubborn to admit her love, blahblahblah. I was really concerned about my mental health until I realized the date.

In related news, I read Archangel, by Sharon Shinn - it was good, though it was somehow stiff and didn't quite do it for me. But I still want to read the sequels AND am reading the first in another of her series, so it clearly wasn't too bad. More detailed thoughts another time. Probably.

It has been an odd weekend. Brian is stil feeling a bit sick, and I'm a tad under the weather myself, so we were planning on super laziness. We got in one batch of thank you notes, and that was meant to be it, But then I went a bit mad. You know how it is, when everyone is feeling sort of blah, and the housekeeping gets lazy and the food is like, frozen pizza and potpies and soup from cans all week? Well, I snapped, and dragged us to the grocery store, and have spent the whole weekend cooking. Made my mom's spaghetti yesterday, and white bean chili today. I also made some focaccia bread this afternoon, which is SO delicious. Hooray for real food!

Bengals lost. Sadness.

We've spent pretty much the entire rest of the day playing D&D Online, excellent times.

Finally watched Torchwood! I enjoyed it pretty well, but the jury is still out. The main girl is a bit annoying to me. I wasn't even that attached to Captain Jack in Dr Who, but I like him quite a lot in this show. And he's amazingly attractive, so that always helps. I shall definitely give it another try or two at least. I do hope they just had the helicopter for the first taping and wanted to make use of it, because if there are that many swooping shots of Cardiff from a distance or Captain Jack on a roof every episode I'll go mad. It'd make a hell of a drinking game though.

SO. I haven't posted in a long time. There was all the wedding broohaha, and then I kept feeling like I should write about the wedding, but it's a lot to write about! Lemme sum up: The day was beautiful. The cakes were delicious. Everything worked out, I danced the night away, and at the end I was married to my man. Oh, and I looked pretty!

In other news, I read Magic Study, the sequel to Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder, and while I really enjoyed them both while I was reading them, I have to say that I'm starting to get that feeling of 'just how awesome is she going to make this girl?' Like, she can be powerful, but you can go overboard with that and I'm a little worried. I'd still recommend them to a friend, but I'd try and ask innocent questions after to see if they got the same vibe.

I've started playing D&DO Stormreach, we got it as a wedding present. :) Wai rules. I am having fun, and have a couple characters I dig going on right now. I am worrying, though, since an MMORPG is not the sort of thing that someone trying to win NaNoWriMo should have avaible. Unless they have a lot more willpower than me. Ah well. I'm still going to try.

TV: Jeffrey from Project Runway is a tool, but that green and gray fabric was pretty and made me say 'Slytherin!'

I still haven't bothered to watch even part of an episode of Gilmore Girls this season, and from what I hear I'm not missing anything but more annoyance. Good choice by me!

I miss having a show to be fannish about though. I still have my never watch, just read fic shows, but nothing I'm actively watching. If only there were a scrubs fandom... I mean, I've seen a couple fics, and they were generally things of beauty and a joy forever, but that's it. Sadness.

I survived it all! I am now good and hitched, and we had a beautiful wedding, and a rocking good time at the reception to boot. The honeymoon was excellent, we lazed about at an exquisite little inn up in Vermont and enjoyed our time together. Today it is back to work, where I'll be starting my new job. I am very happy right now. It's practically nauseating, I know.

So, to torture myself, I have signed up for NaNoWriMo. Oh yes. That should do it. I am currently leaning towards YA/fantasy, as that is my strongest background, but there are still a couple weeks for me to waffle. I am very good at waffling.

On my plane travels, I read Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder and loved it. I also read The Briar King by Greg Keyes and liked it much more than I thought I would. I started to read Giants of the Frost by Kim Wilkens, but loaned it to Brian to save him from boredom and finished up the Briar King instead. It looked promising at the start though, Norse gods and tangled loves. Excellent. I love reading on planes.

Oh! And before the trip, I read Naomi Novik's Temeraire books! They had slipped by my radar until all the joy and broohaha lately, and they were great fun to read. Hooray books!

I love Weird Al. Hee.

I had a second interview for the better job, and should hear tonight or tomorrow. *stressstressstress* And then I'd have to give notice at my current job, which sucks because they are super nice. But haven't hired me permanently, so this is what they get for paying me crap and not giving me insurance.

I was reading the espnU Top 25 overview, and had to laugh. They said it was over when we went up 24-7, but come on. It was over the minute Miami was stupid enough to go out and stomp on the Cardinal. *shakes head* When will they learn? It NEVER goes well after that. They should be proud we didn't beat them by 60, like we did when UC tried that. 63, now that I look it up.

God, I love college football. I may have downloaded the fight songs. *sings* All hail the Cardinal spirit! All hail our U of L!

Interview went ok, as you may see, I am giddy with relief that it is over.

Have an interview in an hour. Panicpanicpanic. It would be sad to have an ulcer at 23, but I'm such a good worrier I fear it is inevitable. I have wanted to vomit allll morning. But, it will be over before I know it, and a real job with COMPLETELY paid for insurance and lots of new stuff to learn would be very exciting. My boy makes more money, being in a more technical field AND having a higher degree, but if I could pull in the insurance, I would feel much better about our financial stuff.

Sorry for this ridiculously boring post. After the wedding, I swear, I'll think about tv and pretty boys more!
